Safeguarding, Mental Health and Wellbeing
As a school community, we are committed to ensuring that every young person feels safe, supported and able to thrive both academically and personally. We know that from time to time, children and families may need additional help, whether related to wellbeing, safeguarding, mental health, or wider challenges at home. Please be assured that there is a range of support available, both in school and externally.
Support Within School
Safeguarding Team If you have any concerns about your child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or a member of the safeguarding team. They can offer guidance, make referrals where appropriate, and work with you to ensure your child is supported.
Pastoral Support Our pastoral team is available throughout the school day to support students with friendship issues, behaviour concerns, attendance, or general worries. They can also help signpost families to external services.
Mental Health and Wellbeing We have trained staff who can offer emotional support, check-ins, and wellbeing interventions. If you feel your child is struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, or other mental health concerns, please reach out so we can work together to provide the right help.
External Support Services
Local Authority Early Help Early Help services can support families with a wide range of issues, including parenting, routines, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing. You can request support directly or we can help you make a referral.
CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) For more significant or ongoing mental health concerns, CAMHS provides specialist assessment and support. If you believe your child may need this level of help, please speak to us so we can guide you through the referral process.
GP and Health Services Your child’s GP can offer advice, make referrals, and support with physical or mental health concerns. They are often a good first point of contact if you are unsure where to start.
Online Resources There are also reputable organisations offering guidance, information, and helplines for young people and families, including:
- YoungMinds – mental health advice for parents and young people
- NSPCC – safeguarding information and support
- Kooth – free online counselling and wellbeing support for young people
- MindEd for Families - advice and support for mental health
Working Together
If you ever feel unsure about where to turn, please contact us. No concern is too small, and you do not need to wait for a situation to become serious before seeking help. Our aim is always to work in partnership with families to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and supported.
